A fresh milkshake vending machine business that made UK-wide headlines for innovation during the pandemic now has a new base in Swansea city centre. Run by Hendy-based Llaeth Beynon Dairy, the vending machines are located in the area of the former St David’s Shopping Centre towards the bottom of the new bridge over Oystermouth Road. Swansea Council has let the site to the business, pending the area’s regeneration in the longer term. The new Hope House children’s hospice shop in Wrexham will be opening this month with the charity asking for potential volunteers and or those with donations to come forward. The new shop at Island Green will officially open on Saturday 21st January at 10am, with the old shop on Charles Street closing. The headline NatWest Wales Business Activity Index – a seasonally adjusted index that measures the month-on-month change in the combined output of the region’s manufacturing and service sectors – registered 52.0 in December, up from 49.8 in November. People are being asked for their views on a proposed Neath Port Talbot Council budget for 2023/24 which is focused on protecting hundreds of vital services and safeguarding jobs. An update has been provided on the embankment repairs at Ynysybwl Road in Glyn-coch. The newly-appointed contractor will complete a week of works on site from January 16 to inform the final scheme, scheduled for this spring. Major embankment stabilisation is required at this location following several unauthorised and illegal excavations of land, which removed the support to the road above. Traffic lights have remained in place on the southbound lane of B4273 Ynysybwl Road, while the footway closest to the embankment has been brought out of use – to ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians. Caerphilly County Borough Council is beginning preparations to develop a new later living scheme on the site of the former Ty Darran care home in Risca. Work has now begun to prepare the site, including measures to protect trees and clearance of vegetation. Site investigations are then planned, before demolition of the existing building takes place at the end of January. When completed, the new scheme will be used to relocate existing Council contract holders from sheltered housing schemes in the locality that have been programmed for closure.
