Blaenau Gwent Council is continuing to be tough on fly-tippers, issuing 35 offenders with a total of £14,000 of fixed penalty notices since February. Five more cases are also being pursued through court for offences including fly tipping, allowing the escape of waste from a vehicle and failing to comply with a commercial duty of care. Over 20 fly-tipping offences have been captured using dedicated CCTV surveillance equipment. More families in the Ystradgynlais area can now access Flying Start support. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded Programme and is available in targeted areas supporting families to give 0-4year olds a Flying Start in life. The scheme is available for certain postcode areas in Welshpool, Newtown, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells, and Ystradgynlais. The first ever festival for young carers in Wales is taking place this week [23-25 August]. Funded by Welsh Government, the three day festival in Builth Wells is the first of its kind in Wales to offer young carers a break from caring responsibilities and the chance to socialise and share their experiences with other young carers.
