An agreement has been reached between Swansea University Students’ Union, Swansea University, and Swansea Council to install more lighting in Singleton Park. This comes after students have raised concerns over safety and the ability to see their surroundings while walking through the park. The Students’ Union and University have agreed to joint-fund the installation of the new lighting which will run along the southward walkway towards the beach. Welsh homelessness charity Llamau has partnered has partnered with EMR Cardiff to provide educational opportunities to young people. The donation provided by EMR Cardiff will enable 60 young people between the ages of 16 and 24 to access educational opportunities. From buying learning materials to helping young people write CV’s and apply for jobs, the donation will help improve their employability prospects. Cardiff Council’s aim to enable all premises in the city to access fast, reliable broadband has received a major funding boost from the Welsh Government. The city has been successful in its bid for more than £7.7m over the next three years from the government’s Local Broadband Fund, which was set up to help local authorities and social enterprises throughout Wales address connectivity issues in their communities. Swansea Council has bought three family-sized static caravans on idyllic Gower so the youngsters can take their families with them for short respite care breaks away from home.
