The Wellbeing Centre will provide a wide range of services that consider and improve the physical, mental and social aspects of an individual’s wellbeing. These Through-age services will include skills and employment advice, hardship and housing support, services for young people, support for carers and early support for Mental Health. Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, is launching its specialist dog fostering service in Wales and urgently needs foster carers to temporarily care for the dogs of survivors of domestic abuse, enabling their owners to flee to safety. Dogs Trust launched its Freedom Project in 2004, offering a lifeline for dog owners who are escaping from domestic abuse. The Freedom Project provides foster homes for dogs and enables survivors to access safe accommodation without the fear of what may happen to their dog if they cannot take them with them. Puppy breeding investigations and prosecutions taken forward by local authorities in Wales have risen significantly – figures captured by RSPCA Cymru have revealed. The animal welfare charity asked all 22 local authorities in Wales – under the Freedom of Information Act – how they are currently tackling illegal puppy breeding in their respective counties. It has been revealed that local authorities received almost 1,000 enquiries from concerned members of the public in 2020 and 2021 – with this figure having increased by 6.75 percent in 2021. The male unneutered dog was collected in Roath by the local dog wardens on 28 May.
