Hundreds of Hungarian and Welsh visitors gathered in Montgomery over the weekend, as the Mid Wales town celebrated its unique literary connection with Hungary. Montgomery’s long-awaited Hungarian Day saw the unveiling of a trilingual memorial plaque dedicated to poet János Arany, whose 1857 ballad ‘The Bards of Wales’ brought the Powys town to fame in Hungary. A teenager from Pontypridd has been crowned the UK’s top young student pastry chef after winning a national competition. Football is returning to the site of the old Vetch in Sandfields for a free Swans’ themed Safer Swansea family day on Saturday (May 21). All Pembrokeshire Leisure Centres are continuing to work towards obtaining Autism Aware Organisation status. In partnership with Disability Sport Wales (DSW) and Autism Wales, Pembrokeshire Leisure signed up all leisure centres to the Autism Wales Leisure Scheme. As part of this all leisure centre staff have been attending Autism Aware training delivered by DSW. The aim is to increase the knowledge and understanding of individuals with autism.
