Top 100 UK law firm, Hugh James, has been reappointed to the Development Bank of Wales’s legal panel framework. Lawyers at Wales’s largest firm have been supporting the Bank, including its predecessor body Finance Wales, for almost 15 years. It now retains its role, despite a number of changes to the make-up of this latest panel of five firms. Researchers at Bangor University’s Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Centre have found a cost-effective way to improve the performance of networks which supply mobile services and broadband to our homes and businesses. As well as improved performance, the new technique is also kinder on the planet. Because of the technique’s lack of complexity, less energy is needed to transmit a given amount of data, so there is less of an environmental cost. More than £1m is being invested in establishing a Merthyr Tydfil creative training scheme to help local residents become artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers. The construction of the new transport interchange in Welshpool is progressing well, with the final phase of resurfacing the Church Street car park planned to begin on Tuesday 10 May. To accommodate the resurfacing works, Church Street car park will be closed for ten days from 10 May. GamCare charity has released an evaluation report of Women’s Programme training sessions and found that 85% of its latest round of participants improved their understanding of gambling harms. The evaluation report was produced by inFocus Consulting, and it detailed the programme’s work across its second year, delivering training to 918 organisations across the UK. The 85% of professionals was a 60% increase from year one.
