A growing distribution and warehouse company has set up a driver training academy to help fuel future growth and create 30 new jobs. McCarthy Distribution, based on Wrexham Industrial Estate, is on course to increase turnover to £15 million after clinching a series of lucrative contracts. As part of the deal for new drivers, McCarthy pay all the training costs to get them up to speed in exchange for the recruits signing up to stay on board for at least two years. The Federation of Small Businesses in Wales have called on Bridgend County Borough Council to confirm an increase in fuel rates paid to bus and coach providers who carry children to school. After fuel rates rising rapidly and steeply, many local authorities have recently agreed to pay higher fuel rates to their providers to help them survive and provide essential transport services. Bridgend County Borough Council has not announced any plans to do so, despite calls from local providers and business representative groups. Cardiff Bus has announced it has introduced a new bus route for students as it partners with Cardiff & Vale College ahead of the new term. Starting from 5 September students will benefit from a new service that will provide access to all of the main campus sites Monday to Friday.
