Work to install a new path at the Showfield, Blackwood has now been completed thanks to investment by Caerphilly County Borough Council. The path was jointly funded through the council’s Parks budget and Welsh Housing Quality Standard programme; with a total cost of £80,000. Users can now safely walk, run, or jog the perimeter of the Showfield, whatever the weather; with a path measuring a total circumference of 1.2km. Neath Port Talbot Council has successfully bid for funding for a pilot project to support young people with their wellbeing and the progression into employment, education and training. The £499,000 pilot will be led by the Council’s Youth Service Team and will be available to 11 to 25-year-olds living in Neath Port Talbot. Planning approval has just been given for a new modular building to be constructed at Priory Church in Wales School site in Brecon. The building funded by a Welsh Government Flying Start capital grant of £820,000.00 will provide Flying Start childcare and Foundation Phase provision as well as a multi-agency office space for professionals to support families. The plans include two large rooms, a dedicated outdoor play space, a small office and a family contact area. A Torfaen Community housing enterprise is helping to make sure local people can enjoy a Christmas treat this year.
