The Lord’s Taverners Wales’ Christmas Lunches returned this December after a year’s hiatus, welcoming 343 guests over two days and raising an incredible £27,000 for Wales’ leading youth cricket and disability sports charity. Lifelong learning should be a key focus for Wales’ Commission for Tertiary Education and Research (CTER), according to a report from Cardiff University. The study, by the Wales Centre for Public Policy (WCPP), calls for enhanced rights and entitlements to education, training and community learning; supported by career advice at key life change points as well as more targeted government funding. A hospice charity is creating two new jobs in order to expand its work into the community and reach more children with life-limiting conditions. The new project has been made possible after Wrexham-based financial planners Hadlow Edwards Wealth Management Ltd. introduced the Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices to the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation. As a result, the charity was successful in applying to the Foundation for more than £79,000 towards the costs of employing two Community Engagement roles for two years. Rail passengers in Wales and the borders are being urged to check before they travel over the festive period as engineering work takes place throughout the network. Dr Dylan Jones, owner of Glandwr Dental Practice, has transformed the building into a new six-surgery site in the centre of Pwllheli, after outgrowing his previous two-surgery practice in Criccieth following an increase in demand. The renovation means dining chairs have been replaced by dental chairs, and cutlery with cutting-edge equipment to provide high-quality dental care.
