Glandwr Dental Practice in Pwllheli has converted a former restaurant into a state-of-the-art new dental practice with the support of funding from Lloyds Bank.

Dr Dylan Jones, owner of Glandwr Dental Practice, has transformed the building into a new six-surgery site in the centre of Pwllheli, after outgrowing his previous two-surgery practice in Criccieth following an increase in demand.

The renovation means dining chairs have been replaced by dental chairs, and cutlery with cutting-edge equipment to provide high-quality dental care. It will also operate a new training facility to help other local dentists develop their skills.

The new practice will continue to care for all its existing patients and has the capacity to welcome up to 1,000 more that had registered to join the previous practice. Dr Jones will also continue to run another four-surgery practice Criccieth.

Dr Jones has ambitions to expand the range of services available at the surgery, including specialist implantology and root canal treatments, as well as more cosmetic dentistry. As a result of the expansion, he has also taken on six new members of staff and has plans to increase headcount further in the future.

Dr Dylan Jones, owner of Glandwr Dental Practice, said: “We’ve been working at full capacity for some time now and had a growing waiting list, so we needed to find a way to expand and meet the dental needs the local community in Criccieth. The new surgery, and our training centre, will enable us to do this.

“We saw huge potential in this site and it’s brilliant to see our vision come to life. The Lloyds Bank team has supported us all the way, particularly through some of the challenges we faced during the pandemic, and we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship as we welcome our patients into the new practice.”

Sian Matthews, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “Transforming a restaurant into a dental surgery requires incredible vision and ambition, and it is testament to Dylan and the team at Glandwr Dental Practice that they have executed it so successfully.

“There has been a growing need for more dental services in the area for some time and Glandwr Dental Practice’s new site will help to provide this. We have no doubt that Dylan will enjoy huge success as he takes the next step on his journey and we will remain by his side as he does so.”
