The newly reopened Llandudno Museum is a further boost for the town, Minister for North Wales Lesley Griffiths said after visiting the attraction The museum reopened earlier this month following a major redevelopment project. The redevelopment has included an expansion to an adjacent building, a temporary exhibition gallery and improved access with the installation of a lift and wider doorways. More of the museum’s collection, which documents the history of the town, is also on display, with more interactive technology available. Macmillan Cancer Support is warning that an increasing number of cancer patients are facing anxious delays as demand for treatment grows in Wales. The latest data released today for July shows that of the 1,600 people who started their cancer treatment, only 988 did so within the national target of 62 days. With well over a third of cancer patients facing delays – meaning 612 people with cancer were left to face anxious waits during one month alone – the charity is calling for urgent action to ensure people can get the urgent treatment they need. BBC Children in Need has announced that it has awarded new grants totalling £128,396 to two local projects working with disadvantaged children and young people in Cardiff. An “inspirational” financial planner is to run the London Marathon in aid of a children’s hospice charity just a year after having a kidney transplant. A Gwynedd care home group has been granted permission by a leading dementia organisation to establish an all-inclusive support service to those living with dementia and their families, the first such scheme within nursing homes in Wales. Meddyg Care, which operates two specialist dementia homes in Criccieth and Porthmadog, have been given approval by national charity Dementia UK to employ an Admiral nurse. Work on a major public realm improvement in Llangollen will start on Monday, October 4. Following approval by Denbighshire County Council’s Cabinet in July 2021, the Llangollen 2020 Castle Street Improvement project is being undertaken by the Council in partnership with Welsh Government and Transport for Wales.
