ALMOST 35,000 calls have been made to the Welsh Ambulance Service since January for people who have fallen. It is the number one reason people in Wales have called for an ambulance this year so far, with chest pain (32,000), breathing problems (25,000) and Covid-19 (23,000) calls second, third and fourth in the list respectively. Drug delivery technology company Midatech Pharma plc has moved its Cardiff headquarters to offices in Cardiff Bay. The company has moved to the 1 Caspian Point office building in Caspian Way, Pierhead Street part of the Parmer Cardiff campus on the city’s waterfront, where it has created 8,050 sq ft of offices and laboratories on the ground and first floors.  Midatech has taken a five year lease on confidential terms. A NEW campaign aims to illuminate dark streets and help those who feel at risk find a registered Safe Place in Wales’ capital. During Freshers’ Fortnight, more young females will walk through the streets of Cardiff at night, with many unfamiliar with the area. Local Area Coordination has been a huge success since it was first initiated by Swansea Council in three wards in the city in 2015. RUNNERS and spectators took to the streets of Swansea on Sunday for the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k – with a colourful 1980s theme. Around 4,000 runners took centre stage for what is one of the top events of its kind in the UK. The event was voted Best 10k in Wales in the 2019 Running Awards. Bridgend County Borough Council is developing an innovative demonstration project focused on the creation of low carbon communities and local energy markets. The Low Carbon Communities Initiative aims to see how locally generated renewable electricity produced as a result of solar power can potentially be shared with other homes nearby.
