South Wales Police is investigating  a house fire which occurred at a premises in Tyntyla Road, Tonypandy on Tuesday (Sept 21). Police and emergency services were called to the address at approximately 4.45pm following several 999 calls. A 28 year-old woman was trapped inside and had to be extracted from the premises by fire and rescue officers – she was taken to Morriston Hospital where she remains in a critical condition. A number of people, including three children, were treated for smoke inhalation. A police investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing. The Farmers’ Union of Wales has welcomed news that the long standing ban on importing Welsh lamb into the United States is to be lifted soon. The announcement was made by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday 22 September. Visitors will be invited to pick your own pumpkins in the run up to Halloween as part of a successful farm diversification project in the Upper Severn Valley. Having welcomed hundreds of visitors to Porth Farm, Moat Lane, Caersws since mid-August to see fields of blooming sunflowers, a maize maze and a woodland walk, Gerwyn Vaughan and Sarah Pinnell are now switching their focus to pumpkins. A big-hearted truck driver and his eight-year-old daughter are planning a sponsored run to raise money for a multiple sclerosis charity. Brian Edwards, 46, who works as a shunter at the McCarthy Group, a haulage and warehousing company based on Wrexham Industrial Estate, was diagnosed with the condition 20 years ago.
