A new service has launched in Swansea to provide advice, guidance, support and signposting to young people who are uncertain of their next steps in employment, education or training. Launched by Better Jobs, Better Futures, a Swansea city centre-based initiative established by Gower College Swansea, the ‘Futures’ service is available throughout the summer to all young people aged 16+ in Swansea who are undecided on their future path. Running until 31 March 2022, employers will be able to register their vacancies with Working Wales who will source suitable applicants from its pool of job seekers. It will consider factors such as geographical locations, experience and skills to directly match them with suitable roles. Police officers will be able to live stream incidents back to the control room when a new high-tech system is operational. According to Paul Shea, the manager of North Wales Police’s control room, the sophisticated On Call software will save lives and reduce stress for staff liaising with officers on the ground. Cardiff Bus customers are being advised of service changes which are set to come into effect from 5 September 2021. The operator is set to improve timetables across its network which will affect many routes and Cardiff Bus urges customers to check their website for full information. Route changes will also be introduced on services 13 and 52 along with some school routes, and service 95 will serve the bus stops within Llandough Hospital grounds from this date. Award-winning fundraiser Des Lally is enjoying some well-earned time off after completing the extraordinary feat of climbing five mountains, in five countries, over three days, to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes. Wales & West Utilities has partnered with Flintshire County Council to deliver its Warm Home Assistance scheme – working to tackle fuel poverty and funding connections to mains gas right across Wales and south west England. The gas emergency and pipeline service has been running the scheme since 2009 and, to date, has funded more than 15,000 connections to mains gas by offering vouchers towards the cost of a new gas supply to eligible households.
