Britpop trailblazers Republica have announced a major UK tour this autumn, with a Cardiff date confirmed as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

The band will perform at The Globe on Sunday 15 November 2026, bringing their signature blend of techno-pop, punk rock and electronica to the Welsh capital for the first time since 1999.

Fronted by the iconic Saffron, Republica rose to prominence in the late 90s alongside a wave of influential female-fronted acts including Catatonia, Elastica, Sleeper and Skunk Anansie, helping define the sound and attitude of the Britpop era.

Their breakthrough hits Ready to Go and Drop Dead Gorgeous became instant anthems, dominating radio and MTV while shaping global youth culture. Although closely associated with the UK scene, the band first found major success in the United States, where Ready To Go became the most added track across modern rock and alternative radio for months, supported by heavy MTV rotation and a sold-out 65-date tour.

With more than three million albums sold and a UK Top 3 debut, Republica’s influence continues today, with their music featured in popular productions including Captain Marvel, Yellowjackets and Ted Lasso.

The band has also enjoyed a recent resurgence, with Saffron performing as part of Alex James’ Britpop Orchestra, bringing Republica back into the spotlight.

Known for their high-energy live performances, Republica have appeared at major festivals including Glastonbury Festival and Reading and Leeds Festivals, and continue to tour globally. Saffron has also performed at halftime events during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Saffron said: “It’s incredible to think it’s been 30 years. These songs still feel as urgent and exciting as they did back then—we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”

Located in Cardiff’s Roath district, The Globe is a popular independent venue known for its intimate atmosphere and strong live music line-up. With a 350-capacity main room, it remains a key stop on the UK touring circuit, with artists including Wasia Project, Taj Farrant, Lights, Casey, Elder Island and Joshua Idehen also set to perform there throughout 2026.

Tickets for the Cardiff show are available via Tixr.
