Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway has welcomed one of its original locomotives back to the line in a lvery it has not worn for more than 70 years. Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T ‘The Earl’, built in Manchester in 1902, had been sent to the Vale of Rheidol Railway, Aberystwyth for a major overhaul in 2019, following the expiry of the locomotive’s 10-year ‘boiler ticket’. Business confidence in Wales fell for a second consecutive month during July, down nine points to 12%, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. Companies in Wales reported lower confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, down five points at 15%.  When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, down 13 points to 9%, this gives a headline confidence reading of 12%. Nightingale House Hospice is sending a big thank you to all its lottery members for their incredible support over the last 25 years, especially during the challenging times of the last seventeen months. Last year the Hospice lottery raised over £500,000 towards providing specialist palliative care services for patients and their families. Lockdown meant the closure of the Hospice shops and cafés and the usual ways of fundraising were not possible.
