Children and young people living in Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot will be able to use an anonymous digital counselling and support service designed to safeguard their mental health. In the wake of the pandemic, the health board has enlisted Kooth, a UK-based digital mental health and wellbeing company, to pilot a free, welcoming and confidential way for young people aged 11-18 years to access emotional wellbeing and early intervention mental health support. The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Tywyn, Mid Wales has re-opened to the public following the gradual lifting of Covid-19 restrictions by the Welsh Government. The museum, which had been closed since December 4 last year because of lockdown, houses a unique collection, including six locomotives. It tells the story of narrow-gauge railways in the British Isles, their contribution to society and industry and the people who ran them. The 70th anniversary of the birth of heritage railways was celebrated at a ceremony in Mid Wales earlier this month. On May 14, 1951, the first ever train in railway preservation left Wharf Station in Tywyn for the short trip to Rhydyronen, establishing Talyllyn Railway as the world’s first volunteer run railway. Staff and pupils have signed their names into the annals of one of Mold’s primary schools, as a major stage of the new extension is completed and part of the redevelopment starts to take shape.  Pupils and staff at Ysgol Glanrafon, along with members of Flintshire County Council, have written their names onto a number of the structured insulated panels (SIPs) which will make up the £4m extension and remodelling scheme being built by Wynne Construction. Three more men aged 18, 21, and 23 have been arrested in connection with violent disorder in Mayhill on Thursday, May 20. This bring the total number of arrests to seven and further arrests are expected over the coming days. Of the seven who have been arrested, two – aged 21 and 23 – remain in police custody and five have been released on bail with a number of strict conditions including a night-time curfew. Covid-safe face-to-face events and activities will be reintroduced from Monday, May 24 on a phased basis, in line with Welsh Government guidance. South Wales Police is investigating the scenes of violent disorder which happened in the Mayhill area of Swansea last night (Thursday 20th May). The police response to the incident was immediate and officers trained to deal with public order incidents were deployed to the scene.
