The family of a man who died following a serious assault at a property in St Mellons have paid tribute to a “gentle, loving” family man. Emergency services were called to the incident on Cypress Crescent shortly after 8pm on Friday (October 16th). Despite their best efforts, and those of members of the public who came to his assistance, Michael Gayle, 54, died at the scene. A murder investigation is underway following the death of a man at an house in Cardiff. South Wales Police was called to reports of a serious assault at an address in Cypress Crescent, St Mellons, at approximately 8pm on Friday, October 16th. Despite the best efforts of emergency services the victim, a 54-year-old man, died at the scene. A woman was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, where she currently remains, with serious injuries which aren’t believed to life-threatening. A popular South Wales school uniform supplier has reported a successful trading period this year, despite the uncertainty of school closures during the pandemic, thanks to a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK. Two rural public houses in Ceredigion have been required to improve the measures they take to minimise the risk of exposure to coronavirus at their premises. The Welsh Independent Restaurant Collective (WIRC), which represents over 300 registered supporting cafes, pubs and restaurants across Wales, has sent an urgent letter to Welsh Government Ministers asking for clarity on proposals to impose a ‘circuit breaker’ shutdown of hospitality.
