Work to complete the new Splash Pad attraction for children and families at the Aberavon Seafront is progressing well and it is due to open in a Covid compliant way when restrictions allow.

The new attraction, a replacement for the former Aquasplash facility on the same site, will include a range of more than 30 exciting water features including fountains, jets and “waterfalls”.

The new Splash Pad has replaced the old paddling pool and the new water fountains, jets and waterfalls, spread over a central play area.

Work on the Splash Pad began on February 1st this year and the design includes new seating and other facilities surrounding the site.

The work is being carried out by Ustigate Ltd which has extensive experience in the aquatic play industry, having completed more than 100 installations since 1990.

Cllr Annette Wingrave, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development said: “This is a major part of Neath Port Talbot Council’s ongoing regeneration of the popular Aberavon Seafront. The new attraction will have a range of benefits for local businesses as it will increase visitor numbers to the area.

“The Splash Pad will also provide local people and visitors with a fantastic new family attraction overlooking the sea at Aberavon Beach.

“The Splash Pad is now close to completion and plans to ensure the public can use it safely, in line with Covid-19 regulations, are currently being finalised.”
