Osian Jones of CRWST was crowned the winner of the Tiptree World Bread Awards Heroes with Brook Food for Wales, in a special online awards evening on Tuesday 13 October 2020. When Osian was forced to close his Crwst’s cafe in Cardigan as the country went into lockdown, he decided to adapt his business; providing door to door delivery so that he could keep his local community supplied with bread. While coronavirus continues to hit charities hard, three generations of the Peters family have bucked the trend by raising thousands of pounds for people with cancer. As part of their latest efforts, Yvonne Peters from Pontyclun, who is both mum and grandmother to the group, contributed to Macmillan’s coffee morning with a Super Sponge September. The event, which saw Yvonne baking a different sponge cake every day for the entire month, has helped raise over £1,300 to support people affected by cancer. An Aberystwyth academic has been recognised as a top talent by the UK’s research and innovation body with support for his sustainable food study. RCT Council has announced that the Mountain Ash Cross Valley Link will open on Friday, October 16, following the completion of the major construction process by contractor Walters-Sisk. The completion of the major scheme will see the Council delivering on a commitment made to residents in early 2017, providing a new link between the A4059 and B4275 which will improve traffic flow in and around Mountain Ash and the wider A4059 arterial route. Bute Park in Cardiff could be getting a new catering outlet to serve the northern area of the popular green space in the city centre. Cardiff Council have issued a tender seeking to find an experienced catering operator to run a mobile operation, covering one of three locations at any given time. National contractor and developer, Wates Residential has been formally appointed to deliver the next phases of its 10 year ‘Cardiff Living’ partnership with Cardiff Council to deliver 1,500 homes across the city by 2027 to help tackle growing housing demand.
