Caerphilly County Borough Council is pleased to announce, in partnership with Welsh Government, the completion of Whitebeam Court; a major construction scheme which brings new business premises to the Ty Du site in Nelson.
Ty Du, which lies immediately south of the A472 Nelson bypass, has secured significant public sector and EU funds for a sustainable mixed-use development; including new highways and access infrastructure, provision for 200 homes and 3.8HA of land designed for quality employment floor space.
The most recent phase of the scheme has seen 4 high quality employment buildings constructed, comprising a total of 1300 square metres of floor-space at the south west corner of the site.
Each building has the potential to be subdivided into 2-3 smaller units and have been designed with a high specification external façade, with a flexible internal layout to suit a range of business uses.
Cllr Sean Morgan, the Council’s Deputy Leader, said “The completion of this exciting next phase of the flagship Ty Du development, offers high quality space for new businesses to develop a base in the county borough or for existing companies to expand; bringing job opportunities to Nelson and the surrounding area for local people.
“Supporting our local economy has never been more important and we hope the Ty Du site will help send the message that the Caerphilly county borough is a great place to do business.”
Economy Minister Vaughan Gething added “I am delighted this important project is ready to attract businesses to these sought after units, which are well connected to local infrastructure.
“We want to see the region capitalise on its rich economic potential and our partnership with the council on this key site will help secure lasting change for businesses and residents alike. This was one of the aims of the Valleys Taskforce.”
The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government with additional investment from the Council and Welsh Government.
