The Deputy Minister and Chief Whip, Jane Hutt, has announced Welsh Government funding of £900k for improvements to community-based facilities through the Community Facilities Programme. This Programme, which funds projects up to a maximum of £250,000, or up to £25,000 for smaller grants, helps well-used community facilities to improve their financial and/ or environmental sustainability, providing opportunities for local people to improve their day to day lives. The Welsh Government is preparing urgent action to prevent people who live in areas with high coronavirus infection rates across the UK from travelling to Wales, First Minister Mark Drakeford has confirmed. The action is being taken after the Prime Minister did not respond to the First Minister’s requests to make advisory travel guidance in English coronavirus hotspots mandatory. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has received more than 54,800 claims from customers using a new online portal which allows workers to claim tax relief for working at home. Launched on 1 October, the online portal is simple to use and has been set up to process tax relief on additional expenses for employed workers who have been told to work from home by their employer to help stop the spread of coronavirus. EE has switched on 5G in Porthcawl, allowing customers in the town to receive the latest mobile network technology. The company, part of BT Group, launched the UK’s first 5G service in May 2019 and has now expanded to a total of 112 towns and cities across the UK.
