A supergran who has eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, completed her own special 5k Race for Life walk challenge in memory of her son who died of cancer. The great grandmother is now inspiring people to unite against the disease by taking part in a unique Race for Life weekend this September. Police in Cardiff are investigating a burglary in the Ael y Bryn area of Llanederyn which happened at around 2.20am on Thursday 20th August. Two people forced access to a property and assaulted two occupants before making off in a white Range Rover Evoke. This vehicle was recovered abandoned in the Llanderyn Road area just after 3.00am the same morning. Officers investigating the burglary have arrested a 39 year-old man from Llanedeyrn on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He is being held at Cardiff Bay police station. A campaign to reduce the overuse of antibiotics is expanding across Swansea after proving a big success in Morriston Hospital. Although antibiotics can be a vital part of treatment, there are times when they are given to patients when there is no longer a clinical need. This can cause antibiotic resistance and leave people at risk of infections such as C. difficile, which infects the gut and causes diarrhoea. The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth will reopen one of its reading rooms from Tuesday, September 1.By welcoming back its users, the library will provide a limited service and access to its collections, with new measures in place to protect readers, researchers and staff. Work will soon start on the initial stages of a major redevelopment scheme in Pontypridd, with the demolition of the former Bingo Hall and Angharad’s nightclub buildings, following the successful acquisition of grant funding support from the Welsh Government.
