People in Wales can be treated closer to home for treatment that can minimise the risk of oesophageal cancer, thanks to the introduction of the South Wales Barrett’s Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Service. The South Wales Barrett’s RFA service, which started in May 2020 and is housed within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, has already seen 30 referrals to date; all of which have developed consequences of long term Barrett’s oesophagus. A Welsh football fanatic from Bala whose business keeps alive the memories of the country’s one World Cup Finals appearance has raised £2,500 for NHS charities across Wales. Tim Williams runs website and Bala High Street shop Spirit of 58, which commemorates Wales’s appearance at the 1958 Finals in Sweden when they reached the quarter-finals before losing to a goal from the 17-year-old Pele. Swansea University is delighted to announce that it will be the new front of shirt sponsor for Swansea City ahead of the forthcoming 2020-21 season. The University will sit on the front of the first-team’s new home and away shirts for the duration of the upcoming Championship campaign. Snowdonia National Park Authority is introducing further improvements, including the ability for visitors to pre-book parking at the Pen-y-Pass. The pre-booking system at Pen-y-Pass car park will operate on weekends and bank holidays for the remainder of the summer. Tesco is to hold an extra summer food collection to support the Trussell Trust and FareShare as they respond to an increased demand for food in the wake of the pandemic, and stores in South Wales are taking part.
