Communities in Rhondda Cynon Taf – which saw some of the worst flooding when storms Ciara and Dennis struck Wales earlier this year – are set to benefit from a further £1.1m in emergency funds, to cover the immediate repair of damaged flood alleviation measures. A supergran who has eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, completed her own special 5k Race for Life walk challenge in memory of her son who died of cancer. Police in Cardiff are investigating a burglary in the Ael y Bryn area of Llanederyn which happened at around 2.20am on Thursday 20th August. Two people forced access to a property and assaulted two occupants before making off in a white Range Rover Evoke. This vehicle was recovered abandoned in the Llanderyn Road area just after 3.00am the same morning. Officers investigating the burglary have arrested a 39 year-old man from Llanedeyrn on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He is being held at Cardiff Bay police station.
