South Wales Police is investigating a road traffic collision between a black Renault Clio and a bicycle which occurred at the junction of Penhill Road (A4119) and Conway Road in the Pontcanna area of Cardiff shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday (April 16th). As a result of the collision the 36 year-old male cyclist was taken to the University Hospital of Wales by ambulance where he is being treated for injuries which are described as not life-threatening. Detectives investigating the serious assault upon a 21 year-old man from Tremorfa in Cardiff have charged a 32 year-old man with attempted murder. Police were called to Harris Avenue, Rumney, at 3.25pm on Monday, April 13 to reports of a serious assault involving a shot gun and machete. Keiron Alexander Hassan from Ely will appear before Cardiff Magistrates tomorrow morning (Friday 17th April). Two other men arrested earlier today remain in police custody. The Welsh Government and the UK Government have confirmed a three-week extension to the current lockdown restrictions. Following yesterday’s COBRA meeting with ministers, the First Minister of Wales confirmed that the extension would go ahead based on the scientific advice available. Three teenagers have been arrested and released on police bail following the burglary of a house occupied by NHS staff. The boys – two aged 16 and one aged 17 – were arrested during the early hours of Wednesday morning (April 15th) in Splott. They are suspected of travelling in a stolen car which failed to stop for South Wales Police Roads Policing Officers on Railway Street. At lunchtime yesterday (15th April 2020), we received reports of a large grass fire at the rear of Black Vein Industrial Estate, Wattsville. Upon arrival, the crews were faced with a fire spreading quickly to affect 80 hectors of grassland and forestry. Over the duration of the incident South Wales Fire and Rescue Service deployed six fire engines, two specialist wildfire vehicles and a helicopter to the scene and worked in partnership with Gwent Police, Natural Resources Wales and the local authority. The dangers fishing litter pose to Wales’ wildlife has again come under the spotlight, after the RSPCA raced to the rescue of a troubled swan at Pen-Y-Fan Pond in Crumlin. RSPCA Cymru was alerted after a member of the public spotted the swan with fishing line caught around their legs and back. Officers from the charity continue to respond to animal welfare emergencies amid the coronavirus outbreak. Faced with the challenge of conducting physical valuations of properties during the COVID-19 crisis, Swansea Building Society is now allowing “drive-by valuations” by surveyors on properties where the mortgage has a loan-to-value ratio of 60 percent or less (excluding self-build and renovation mortgages). While these cases will still require a physical valuation at a later date, this will allow for cases to proceed to offer stage where an initial satisfactory valuation report is received pending a satisfactory physical valuation report being done prior to completion.
