The driver of a Vauxhall Corsa is said to be “lucky to be alive” after colliding with the gates of Roath Park in Cardiff. South Wales Police were called to the incident 7.30am yesterday morning on Lake Road West. The 22-year-old driver was initially arrested on suspicion of drink driving, but was later released without charge following a second negative reading. The driver managed to escape without injury.

Cardiff Council has put forward budget proposals for consultation that could see an additional £10.4 million invested in schools and a further £7.2 million for Social Services.  The proposals are part of a report that was approved at a meeting of the local authority’s Cabinet today.  This comes after the Welsh Government announcement on Monday that Cardiff Council will receive a 4.1 percent increase in funding, under the terms of the provisional settlement for 2020/21.  The 4.1 percent Welsh Government funding increase for Cardiff represents an additional £18.5 million in cash terms, leaving the council with a budget shortfall of…

Building on the success of the Council’s community hubs programme, the Council is committed to delivering wellbeing hubs in the northern part of the city, focusing on social wellbeing and active lifestyles, community engagement and independent living. A Caldicot man has been banned from keeping animals for five-years, after he left his dog suffering with chronic and severe skin disease over a prolonged period of time. Karl Mark Hobday, 49, of Newport Road in Caldicot, pleaded guilty to the Animal Welfare Act offence at Usk Way Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (17 December). South Wales Police can confirm the sad passing of Luke Williams, 26, who was critically ill in hospital since being involved in an incident which occurred on Monday, December 16, 2019. He was pronounced deceased on Thursday evening (December 19) at Prince Charles Hospital.
