A fox has had a lucky escape after he was trapped by garden fencing in Penclawdd, Swansea. The fox was found this week (30 December) after he had managed to get his back leg caught in a wire fence at a garden in West End Road. RSPCA inspector Gemma Cooper attended at 11am following a call to the animal welfare charity. She said: “Ironically the owners had purposely chosen sheep fencing for the garden in order to support the local wildlife but this seems to have been a freak accident for the poor fox. “The wire was wrapped tightly around…

Rural Affairs Minister Lesley Griffiths has confirmed farm funding in Wales for 2020 following the UK Government’s announcement they will provide £243m for the Basic Payment Scheme in 2020. Farmers in Wales will be paid the Basic Payment Scheme in 2020 at the same level as in recent years and support for Wales’ rural economy and environment will also be maximised after Brexit by transferring 15% of the 2020 budget for the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) to support rural development in 2021/22.
