Motorists in Aberdare are being advised to plan ahead as the next phase of a major gas network upgrade gets underway later this month. Gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities will begin work along Abernant Road on 20 July as part of its ongoing programme to modernise the gas network across the wider Aberdare area. The work will require a northbound road closure between the junctions of the A4059 and Cwmbach Road until 31 August. Officers were called to Pen Cae Crwn Road, Gorseinon, Swansea at 12:58pm yesterday (Thursday July 9) following a report of a collision involving a car and an off-road bike. The Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales, and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have confirmed the next stage in plans to strengthen policing and regeneration in Pontypridd town centre. The former police station on Berw Road has now closed and will transfer to the Council as part of wider plans to bring forward a major town centre redevelopment. A man who persistently and needlessly caused a drain on emergency services has been jailed. Robert Humphreys Trevelyan (39), of Haulfryn, Ruthin was already serving a suspended prison sentence for unrelated offences, when he was involved in several incidents requiring police a presence, as a result of being intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, with his behaviour having a significant impact on the wider community.
