Hundreds of people converged on the Senedd yesterday (October 2nd) to demand more resources for creating safe walking and cycling infrastructure in Wales.  The lobby on the steps of the Senedd heard calls for Welsh Government to match the £20 per head spent in Scotland. Unless that happens, Wales would not be able to deliver on the promises made when the Assembly passed the ground-breaking Active Travel Act in 2013. Sharon Owen, Charity Director of Welsh Hearts, will walk the course of this years Cardiff Half Marathon with the family of Ben McDonald who died after running the half marathon last year After running the Cardiff Half Marathon last year Ben McDonald suffered a cardiac arrest. The 25-year-old sadly later died in hospital. In memory of Ben his family will be walking the 13.1-mile course this year on October 6 with Sharon Owen, whom they have worked closely with since losing Ben. More than 220 property professionals from across Wales’ construction, housing and building services sectors braved the stormy conditions to take part in the seventh Wales Property Triathlon. They were joined by Olympians Helen and Marc Jenkins, who joined the event for the second year.  The triathlon is organised by family run construction firm, Jehu Group, to raise money for their chosen charity Carers Trust Wales, who are committed to improving support and services for unpaid carers. A Swansea-based charity supporting people in need has received a “vital lifeline” thanks to Tesco’s Community Food Connection (CFC) scheme. Faith in Families, which has three established family centres supporting disadvantaged communities across Swansea, has been supported in its work by donations of surplus food from Tesco stores in Swansea. The RSPCA has issued urgent advice to the public about what to do if they see a struggling seal on a beach – after “well-meaning” members of the public returned one to waters in Pembrokeshire. RSPCA Cymru’s plea follows the rescue of the moulted grey seal pup from Castlemartin beach in Pembroke on Wednesday (25 September). The rescue of the seal was completed by Welsh Marine Life Rescue (WMLR).
