Swansea Building Society is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support’s Gower Macmarathon for a fifth consecutive year, to continue to help raise money for the charity’s specialist cancer services. The 2019 Gower Macmarathon, which will see walkers enjoying Gower’s picturesque coastline, takes place on Saturday 14September. Headline sponsors Swansea Building Society will be welcoming people to join over 1000 walkers to complete the 22-mile Gower route to raise funds for Macmillan. Last year, the event raised £184,000. CHRIST College, Brecon has promoted their hockey coach to Director of Hockey as part of its growing commitment to sport at the school. A member of staff at HC-One’s Meadowlands care home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has braved the shave to raise almost £800 for the home’s new garden project. Meadowlands hosted a fundraising fun day, which invited friends and family of Residents to join in with the activities, including a raffle, food and refreshments. Care home worker Sandra Price bravely endured a full head shave, which raked in the majority of the money raised as Residents and friends of the home donated to show their support. A miniature collectable from the M&S Little Shop range has sold on eBay for £490 this weekend after 58 bids, as Brits clamber to complete their sets with the rare collectors’ item. Creams, the gelato and dessert restaurant located on St Mary Street in Cardiff has closed suddenly.  A piece of paper taped to the window of the venue, which we first spotted on Saturday reads that notice has been “served and forfeiture of lease”. The property has been sized by Debt Squared on behalf of the landlord. The notice reads… There is no indication on the Creams Cardiff Facebook page why the restaurant has closed. Attempts to contact both parties have gone unanswered over the weekend.

According to the latest NatWest Wales PMI® data, private sector firms noted a stronger increase in business activity during July. The rate of growth quickened to a five-month high amid a sharper upturn in new business.
