A recent study commissioned by social enterprise, Menter Môn and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has identified a range of opportunities to improve landscapes and ecosystems along a proposed new green corridor across the island. Known as Glasffordd Môn, it will be an off-road walking and cycling route that will stretch from Niwbwrch (Newborough) in the south of Anglesey to Amlwch in the north. An improved neighbourhood skate park is now open for use at Parc Melin Mynach in Gorseinon. Ramps, banks and a quarter pipe form part of the upgraded facility, which is part of a £2.8m Swansea Council investment in wheel sports across the city. The completion follows-on from the introduction of an improved neighbourhood skate park at Coed Bach Park in Pontarddulais a few months ago. A man who responded to a Facebook post asking licensed waste carriers to move waste but – checks found – didn’t have a license to do so, later failed to pay a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) issued to him, Swansea Magistrates have been told. Proposals for a new Aldi food store and Starbucks coffee shop on vacant land known locally as Burrows Yard in Aberavon, Port Talbot, have been approved. Members of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Planning Committee gave the go ahead for the development earlier this month. Residents will be able to find out more about initial plans for a new walking and cycling route in Treherbert, by taking part in a public consultation next week (June 17 to July 1). This scheme represents one phase of a larger active travel route, which is being developed for Treherbert and Treorchy. On May 29, 2025, he was issued with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court to prevent crime and protect shop workers.
