Leading Welsh health charity Kidney Wales is calling on all runners across Wales to sign up for the annual Cardiff Metropolitan University Cardiff 10K and 2K road race, which is being held in Cardiff city centre on Sunday 1st September. Six people have been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court today (Monday 20th May) for their roles in a conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. They were charged with conspiring to supply a class A controlled drug – heroin and conspiring to supply a class A controlled drug – crack cocaine. The court heard, all six defendants were caught by officers as part of Operation Red Dragon – an operation to clampdown on the supply of class A drugs in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan. At approximately 8:00am today (Monday May 20th) a fatal road traffic collision occurred on the B4181 Litchard Hill at its junction with Bryn Llidiard involving a white Mercedes E250 estate and an 88 year old male pedestrian. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by paramedics for his injuries however was pronounced deceased at hospital. Family members are currently being supported by specially trained Police officers. Two South Wales sisters have pledged to do 20 challenges for 2020 for Macmillan to mark 20 years since they sadly lost their mother to breast cancer. Sisters Verity Pyke, of Cardiff, and Lauren Turner, of Bridgend, want the public’s ideas for their 20 fundraising challenges for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of their mother Susan Turner, who sadly died in 2000.
