South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 4.15pm on Sunday 12th May 2019. The collision involved a black coloured Yamaha motorcycle which was travelling easterly along Harbour way, Port Talbot. As a result of the collision the pillion passenger, a 44 year old female sustained fatal injuries. Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or who may have seen the motorcycle travelling along the A4241 Afan Way immediately prior to the collision to contact 101 quoting reference number 1900170002.

Swansea University has this month launched a sixth Santander Cycles hub situated in Mumbles. [aoa id=”1″] The hub is located on the foreshore, opposite Promenade Terrace with 10 bikes and 20 docks added to the already popular bike share scheme. The latest NatWest Wales PMI® data signalled another solid monthly increase in business activity in April, supported by a sustained rise in new business. Nonetheless, slightly softer new order growth allowed firms to clear backlogs for the first time since January. Firms also reined in their hiring activity, with workforce numbers broadly unchanged from March. Inflationary pressures remained elevated despite a softer increase in input prices, as output charges rose at a quicker pace. Three men have this week (Friday May 10th) been sentenced for their part in a fraud which resulted in a number of Welsh Government grant-funded companies going into liquidation. A judge at Cardiff Crown Court sentenced Anthony Smith who was described as the driving force behind the £5 million fraud to three years and nine months in prison. Their accountant, Keith Peters was sentenced to 15 months in prison, while the third defendant, Colin Mair received 21 months which is suspended for 18 months.
