New artwork has been unveiled at Redrow Homes’ St David’s Meadow development in Colwinston after local artist, David Mackie, collaborated with children at the neighbouring St David’s Church in Wales Primary School to produce the masterpiece. The public art, which has taken two years to make, is made up of designs created by the pupils after David visited their school for a series of workshops and incorporated their artistic ideas into the finished article. Powys-based bioresearch company, Agroceutical Products, is playing a role in the fight against Alzheimer’s by harvesting Wales’ national flower. Daffodils contain galantamine – a compound known to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s symptoms. [aoa id=”1″] Established in 2012, Agroceutical Products is owned by former sheep farmer Kevin Stephens. The company grows its daffodils 1,000 feet above sea level in the Black Mountains in Powys, which means they produce more galantamine than daffodils grown anywhere else due to the altitude. A stop and search in Rhondda led to the seizure of over £30,000 worth of class A drugs in January (2019). The drugs were discovered at a house in Elm Wood Drive, Tonyrefail, which was searched by police after they spotted a suspicious man leaving the address and followed him home. Officers found two small rocks of crack cocaine in the man’s pocket and secured a search warrant for the Elm Wood Drive address under the misuse of Drug Act. At approximately 11:15am on Friday 12th April 2019 a Serious Personal Injury Road Traffic Collision occurred on the B4254 Ogmore By Sea, Bridgend. A red Suzuki motorcycle ridden by an 83 year old local man left the carriageway as the motorcycle was travelling towards Ogmore by Sea. The rider sustained serious head injuries & he was flown from the scene to University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff where his condition is described as serious.
