South Wales Police is able to confirm that a 20 year-old man involved in the collision which occurred in the very early hours of this morning on the A4059, died from his injuries.

His name is Ryan James Haymer – his family have paid the following tribute to him:

“Ryan – a wonderful son, brother, uncle and boyfriend. He loved music especially playing the drums in his band ‘Rapture’.

“He enjoyed going on snowboarding holidays with his friends when he wasn’t working as a swimming and gym instructor in his local leisure centre.

“Ryan was a kind, helpful and loving young man and he is going to be extremely missed by all who knew and love him.”

Ryan’s family is being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

A 22 year-old man remains at the University Hospital of Wales in what has been described as a critical condition.

Two other men who were occupants of the blue Toyota Yarris which left the road and collided with a tree, have been treated for what are non-life threatening injuries.

An investigating into the incident is ongoing and officers are continuing their appeal for information about the collision which occurred at 00:05hrs on 14 April, 2019 between Mountain Ash and Aberdare.

Anybody who may have witnessed the collision or the manner in which the vehicle was travelling in the moments prior to the incident is urged to contact South Wales Police via 101 quoting reference *132567.
