Staff at Neath Port Talbot Hospital are once again giving up their time to organise a Christmas Day lunch for those in the community who are most vulnerable. It is the 16th year they have come together to combat loneliness. Community psychiatric nurses Jane Briggs and Sue Shannon Jones, who has retired, began the tradition along with social worker Sian Davies. Hundreds of gifts, donated by generous St David’s Cardiff shoppers, were provided to Y Bont in Bridgend this week as part of the centre’s annual Toy Appeal. Over 100 gifts, including toys from stores such as Hamleys, Lego and Disney, were delivered by a team of Christmas helpers to spread festive cheer to children and families across South Wales. Police investigating the disappearance of a mother and daughter from Barry are urging for them to get in contact. Sian Duili, aged 47, and Aisha Duili, aged 8, were last seen in Barry on Tuesday, December 11, and concern is growing for their welfare. CCTV images show the mother and daughter were in a Costcutter in Gretna, Scotland, yesterday at 1.15pm. In the footage Sian is wearing a dark coloured jumper and Aisha was wearing a red jumper with ‘Whatever’ in white letters on the front. Macmillan Wales warns many people with cancer are facing anxious and unacceptable waits for their treatment, as new statistics reveal around 1,200 people in Wales didn’t start their cancer treatment on time in a year. The warning follows publication of the annual cancer waiting times report, which reveals information on cancer waiting times from across each health board in Wales.  An estimated 100 people in Wales did not start their cancer treatment on time every month between 2017 and 2018.
