A team of doctors from South Wales has travelled to a conference in Senegal to present ideas about novel ways of delivering healthcare education in Africa and Asia. Organised by Merck Foundation, the charitable arm of the global pharmaceutical company, Merck, the event in Dakar brought together more than 500 healthcare professionals from 58 countries. The Cardiff-based sixth form college welcomed almost 1000 young people across the two evenings to its Penylan campus, all looking to take their next steps in their education. Police investigating a road traffic collision in Cardiff last weekend have issued a fresh appeal for information which could help their enquiries. Cyclist Ronald Triggs, 71, died in the incident on Colchester Avenue, Penylan, which occurred at about 1.30pm on Saturday, November 24. The collision involved a Volkswagen Transporter van. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured the incident on CCTV or a dashboard camera. A Swansea club is helping children with cancer gain greater independence thanks to a £5,582 donation to buy specialised mobility buggies. Chris Board, general manager of Fiction on Little Wind Street, nominated LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity to receive the money to purchase 15 robust lightweight buggies to help children receiving treatment for cancer and leukaemia to get out and about.
