An Ebbw Vale care home has been taken on by a new owner, supported by a £2.97 million loan from the Development Bank of Wales. Bankhouse Care Home, in Beaufort, provides residential, nursing and dementia care for 54 residents. The average price of a home sold in Wales increased to £238,413 in the first quarter of 2025, up 2.2% on the previous quarter and 4.0% higher than the same period last year. The figures have been released by Principality Building Society in its Wales House Price Index for Q1 2025 (January – March), which demonstrates the rise and fall in house prices in each of the 22 local authorities in Wales. A man from Swansea has been jailed after pleading guilty to stalking. 42-year-old Raymond John pursued a course of harassment against his victim at her place of work between January and May this year. On one occasion, he attended her place of work six times, standing in the entranceway and staring at the victim. On another day, he attended when the victim was off work, and asked staff where she was. This pattern of behaviour continued for weeks. The victim was unable to work by herself for her safety. A 34-year-old man has been convicted of the murder of 69-year-old Catherine Flynn. Dean Mears, of Bodelwyddan Avenue, Kinmel Bay, was this week (15 May) found guilty by a jury following a three-week trial at Caernarfon Crown Court. Mears will be sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday, 20 June. A captivating new exhibition has opened at the Art Central Gallery in Barry. Puppets and Curious Narratives is a vibrant and imaginative display that is available to visit until 31 May 2025.
