South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A48 Eastern Avenue in Cardiff in the early hours of this morning (Monday 4th February). It is believed that only one vehicle, an Audi A6, was involved. The driver of the vehicle, a 39 year-old man from the Llanrumney area, was treated at the scene but later died in hospital. The family has been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. Llanidloes residents and visitors can now recycle while exploring the shops and streets of the ancient market town. ‘Sending a Message in a Bottle’ founder, Phil Stallard, with help from the Waste Awareness Team at Powys County Council, has found a use for redundant recycling bins which had been put into storage. Spar Llanidloes agreed to trial the bins outside its store and, since early November, passers-by have been able to deposit their bottles and cans ready to be recycled. South Wales Police have charged two men with offences under the Modern Slavery Act and assault. Anthony Howard Baker, 48, and Harvey Baker, 19, were arrested on Wednesday evening and Friday morning respectively, on suspicion of holding a person in slavery or servitude. The men, both from Jersey Marine, Neath, have since been charged with the offences and will appear before Swansea Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday, February 2nd). A 20-year-old man is currently in hospital and is being supported by officers and specialist services.
