Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet has approved that 1 September 2026 will be the revised delivery date for Coety Primary School’s extension, which will coincide with the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year. Following a consultation process, plans were confirmed to increase the school’s capacity from 420 to 525 places for pupils aged four to eleven years, with some of the features of the expansion to include a four-classroom extension, additional facilities such as toilets, cloakrooms and storage space. Work on the modernisation of the Hall wing at Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant in Rhyl is progressing well. Built in the mid-1960s, the Hall wing is seeing improvement works and upgrades which will see the wing transformed and modernised. Cardiff Council is announcing a major change in its waste management services – the resumption of fortnightly garden waste collections will now be year-round. Garden waste collections across the city began again this week following the winter break, but now residents will be able to have their garden waste collected every fortnight for 50 weeks of the year. That’s 25 garden waste collections a year – up from 18 a year. Caerphilly County Borough Council is asking members of the local community to give their views on proposals to develop affordable homes on an unused site in the Risca area. Caerphilly Homes, the Council’s housing division, is proposing to redevelop the former library and community centre site at Brookland Road, Pontymister into up to 23 affordable energy efficient homes across a mix of apartments, houses and later living properties.
