A leading civil engineering firm has completed the fourth and final phase of a complex ground investigation survey campaign as principal contractor for the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase on the Mona Offshore Wind Project. Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK is delivering the ECI works in preparation for the onshore activity for the large-scale scheme, which will consist of up to 96 turbines in the east Irish Sea. Business confidence in Wales rose nine points during June to 32%, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds. Companies in Wales reported higher confidence in their own trading outlook month-on-month, up 13 points at 48%. When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, up five points to 16%, this gives a headline confidence reading of 32% (vs. 23% in May 2026). Welsh firms reported strong customer demand (89%) as the key driver of confidence in their own trading outlook. Cardiff Foodbank has received a significant £20,000 donation from American hard rock band Metallica, who played the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday night (28 June 2026). A 61-year-old man has sadly died following a single-vehicle collision in the Beddgelert area on Thursday 25 June. Officers responded to a report shortly after 11.30am of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on the road between Nantmor and Nant Gwynant. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene.
