A man has been jailed for assaulting two police officers in Butetown, Cardiff. Abdul Yusaf, 27, made off from the scene of a road traffic collision on Bute Street and became violent when officers attempted to detain him. PC Jabber was hit in the eye causing him to lose vision and PC Fitchett was punched and kicked. Extra officers were deployed to Hannah Street and Taser was used to prevent further injury. Military driving examiners will help deliver up to 6,500 more tests in tough new measures to tackle the driving test backlog, the government announced today (12 November 2025). There will also be a new limit on rearranging tests and a ban on third parties booking on behalf of learners in order to make the system fairer, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said. A North Wales bakery’s new £20 million production line is up and running. After a 14-month installation, the giant piece of equipment at the Jones Village Bakery’s flagship headquarters complex on Wrexham Industrial Estate was completed two days ahead of schedule. The number of Welsh female prisoners increased for the fourth consecutive year in 2024, new analysis shows. Despite repeated commitments to reduce the number of Welsh women in prison*, the number of women handed immediate custodial sentences in Wales reached its highest level in 2024 since the outbreak of Covid-19. Women handed sentences of one month or less at courts in Wales also rose by a further 51% last year.
