On Thursday, 13 December, Monmouthshire County Council’s Cabinet approved a new Foster Friendly Policy. The new policy will apply to all employees who foster directly through our Council’s Foster Wales Monmouthshire service or other Local Authorities. Employees will have access to up to five additional days of annual leave to enable foster carers or people being assessed to become foster carers to attend relevant meetings, training, home visits or other support needs. Glan Llyn Primary School in Newport has received a donation of hi-vis jackets from Bellway Wales which will help children learn about construction. The school, off Bessemer Drive, opened in September 2019 and forms part of the new community which is taking shape on part of the former Llanwern steelworks site to the east of Newport. It lies opposite Bellway’s Heron’s Mead development. The jackets will be used by the pupils when they are using construction materials in special construction areas which have been set up in each class. Four young rabbits abandoned days before Christmas have been taken into RSPCA care at its North Wales animal centre. They were found on a country lane by Exfords Green, Shrewsbury, in a cat carrier at around 2.30pm on 23 December – and had been dumped on the side of the road.
