Watkin Property Ventures (WPV) has pledged an annual donation of £10k to Bangor Cricket Club until 2034, a total of £100k, to support the recruitment of coaches and to improve the facilities at the club.

The first £10k donation was made in 2024 and has allowed the club to appoint a professional coach, overseeing all the age groups. They have also appointed a coach and manager for each junior team, to ensure they have a steady stream of players for the senior team.

The commitment comes from a long-standing partnership with Watkin Property Ventures and is part of the company’s mission to work with local charities and groups through its Community Fund.

Mark Watkin Jones, Chief Executive of Watkin Property Ventures, is pleased to be supporting the club. He said: “We are proud to support Bangor Cricket Club with this long-term commitment. Cricket plays a vital role in bringing communities together, and we believe in investing in initiatives that create opportunities, inspire young people, and strengthen local spirit.

“By donating £10,000 each year for 10 years, we hope to help the club grow and thrive, both on and off the field. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this partnership will have.”

The cricket club’s Tŷ Newydd ground is home to various cricket teams, including the Women’s, men’s, and junior teams. The club is also a community hub, encouraging young people from the community to play cricket, learn new skills, and socialise in their free time.

Gareth Edwards, Chairman of Bangor Cricket Club is thrilled with the support offered by WPV. He said, “”The annual donation allows us to plan for the future with confidence. Knowing the funding is in place means we can retain dedicated coaches and continue delivering a consistent, high-quality experience for our juniors.

“As our reputation for developing young talent grows, more local youngsters are drawn to the club. We now have over 60 children training on Friday evenings, which is fantastic.

“What’s even more rewarding is seeing their parents get involved too – many have joined as players on our development side.

“This support helps us sustain momentum, build strong relationships between kids and coaches, and keep cricket fun and engaging. When coaches are committed and consistent, young players thrive.”
