Barclays has become the latest organisation to partner with FinTech Wales, the independent membership association dedicated to supporting the FinTech and Financial Services industry in Wales.

Barclays joins an exclusive group of 11 partners that provide substantial support to FinTech Wales’ mission to empower Wales as a globally recognised hub of fintech excellence. As a partner, Barclays will play a key role in supporting the FinTech Wales community of over 150 members across key areas, including skills and talent development, fostering investment opportunities, and driving innovation within the financial technology sector. Their involvement will help strengthen collaboration, nurture emerging talent, and enhance the ecosystem’s ability to compete on a global stage.

Barclays recognises the critical importance of organisations like FinTech Wales in supporting such a thriving and dynamic sector. By partnering with FinTech Wales, Barclays underscores its commitment to helping sustain and grow the fintech community in Wales, ensuring the region’s continued success and global competitiveness.

Launched in 2019, FinTech Wales represents the country’s rapidly growing fintech sector and supports the promotion of Wales as a leading destination for fintech and financial organisations. Its focus is on creating a supportive ecosystem that helps both start-ups and established companies thrive by providing access to resources, talent, investment, and networking opportunities.

Barclays has had a longstanding presence in Wales and is deeply involved in supporting local businesses and communities. This partnership with FinTech Wales underscores the organisation’s dedication to fostering innovation, building skills, and ensuring that Wales remains a key destination for financial and technological excellence.

Sarah Kocianski, CEO of FinTech Wales, said: “We are delighted to welcome Barclays as our newest partner. Its commitment to supporting the community, and focussing on skills development and fostering innovation in particular, align perfectly with our mission to grow and promote Wales as a global hub for fintech excellence. By partnering with FinTech Wales, Barclays will help us to continue to build an inclusive and thriving fintech ecosystem that benefits businesses, individuals, and communities across Wales.”

Mark Stephenson, Operations and Servicing Director and Head of Site for Barclays in Cardiff said: “By becoming a partner of FinTech Wales, we are reinforcing our commitment to giving back to the community and supporting the vibrant fintech talent in Wales. We are excited to collaborate on initiatives that promote skills development and create opportunities for our employees to connect and make a positive impact. This partnership allows us to support innovative businesses and contribute to the growth of Wales’s fintech sector while also creating meaningful engagement opportunities for our teams.”
