The Blaina Wharf pub in Newport has reopened with a new look following a £211k investment.

The pub’s refresh has seen the introduction of new wallpaper, stylish lighting, new seating, and uplifting colour palettes. With an updated bar area and investment in team training, the pub has now officially reopened with a fresh new look.

Tracey Jones who runs local project, “Pride in Pill”, Newport’s multi-award winning environmental voluntary group and Darren Rice, a local resident who organises litter picking, canal clean ups and fundraises for the area’s food banks, were chosen as the pub’s community heroes to pour the first pints in the new look pub.

The pub is situated near the City Bridge over the River Usk. It has a ‘traditional village pub’ feel and is dog friendly.

The Blaina Wharf offers a varied menu of pub favourites such as Steak and Ale Pie served with chips, garden peas and gravy and new additions such as Loaded Fries with spicy pulled pork, nacho cheese sauce, BBQ sauce, crispy onions and chopped chives and classic lagers on draught, cask ales and a variety of cocktails and G&Ts. The pub also offers a Sunday Carvery each week, all served with seasonal vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, stuffing, gravy and homemade Yorkshire puddings.

The Blaina Wharf has a large garden near the waterfront, which allows guests to drink and dine alfresco. The new look is set to elevate the pub’s interior to suit all occasions, from ‘casual lunches’ to special celebrations.

Guests can also enjoy a new mid-week offer with a main meal and drink for £11.95. These dishes vary daily with a pie and drink available on Mondays, burger and drink on Tuesdays, curry and a drink on Wednesdays and steak and a drink for £13.50 on Thursdays.

With over 1,600 pubs and bars across England, Scotland and Wales, Marston’s sites range from their traditional local pubs and family-friendly pubs to their sites with a focus on a ‘warm, timeless country pub atmosphere’.

Kristy Walters the General Manager said, “We are so excited to open the doors of the Blaina Wharf and to show our wonderful guests the result of our amazing refresh. We have invested a huge £211k into breathing new life into the venue can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back.”
