Blake Morgan has promoted Joanna Corbett-Simmons to partner in its Cardiff office, recognising her expertise in complex litigation and dispute resolution.

Joanna is a highly regarded litigator with a broad practice spanning general commercial and civil claims, shareholder disputes, professional negligence, contentious intellectual property matters, and special educational or additional learning needs. Her promotion to partner forms part of a wider round of four new partner appointments across the firm, spanning its Corporate, Employment, Commercial Litigation and Construction teams.

Joanna advises a wide range of public and private sector clients. She is regularly instructed by local authorities, health boards, NHS England and the Welsh Government, alongside charities and private companies. Her sector experience is particularly varied: she has advised clients in the care, aviation, fashion and renewable energy industries on shareholder and corporate disputes, and brings specialist knowledge of intellectual property matters to clients across the security, visual arts, electronics, beauty, agricultural machinery, food and furnishings sectors.

She has also built a distinguished track record in high-profile public sector work, having led disputes on behalf of NHS England and the Welsh Government and advised NHS England in relation to both the Infected Blood and Covid-19 Public Inquiries.

Eve Piffaretti, Head of Blake Morgan’s Wales office, said:

“Congratulations to Joanna on this very well-deserved promotion. She is a formidable litigator who brings exceptional skill, tenacity and care to everything she does. These qualities have earned her the confidence of some of the most significant clients and institutions in Wales and England.

“This promotion reflects the exceptional talent we have within our Cardiff office and the depth of our dispute resolution practice. We are proud to see Joanna take this next step and become a Partner, and we look forward to her continued contribution to the firm and to our clients in Wales.”
