Half term in Wales is set to bring a mixed bag of weather, with blustery showers to start the week before brighter and crisper conditions arrive.
Today will feel cold and changeable, with plenty of cloud, some sunny spells and occasional showers. Some of the showers could be heavy with hail, turning wintry over higher ground. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of around 8C, but brisk winds will make it feel colder.
Tonight, further showers are forecast through the evening, with snow possible over hills in the north and perhaps even to lower levels for a time. Skies are set to clear overnight, leading to a sharp frost and icy stretches by morning. Temperatures could fall to around minus 2C.
Tuesday will begin with a frosty start and a risk of ice in places. After that, it is expected to turn into a fine and crisp day. Despite a cold northerly breeze, sunshine should make it feel pleasant in more sheltered spots, with highs of around 7C.
Looking ahead to Wednesday through to Friday, conditions are expected to turn windier midweek, with rain and hill snow possible in the south on Wednesday. Beyond that, a more settled spell is forecast, although frosty nights are likely to continue. Southerly winds are expected to strengthen on Friday, bringing rain later in the day.
