Several Bridgend town centre businesses have been nominated for this year’s Best of Welsh Business awards.

A total of six businesses – Beth Daniels Hair Design, Cariads Cwtch Apothecary, Clippaz, Cabo Roche, Morgan’s Bistro and UAA Academy – will take on retailers from across the country next month after being voted in as finalists.

Bridgend’s finalists will be hoping to take home the winning prize in their category which include Best Hairdresser, Best Health and Wellbeing Business, Best Barbers, Best Pub and Social Club, Best Restaurant and Best Performing Arts and Music School.

The winners will be decided at a Lord of the Rings themed event on 27 March 2022 at Cardiff’s Coal Exchange.

Beth Daniel, Chair of the Bridgend Town Traders Forum, said: “As small, independent traders, we are absolutely delighted to be finalists of the Best of Welsh awards 2022.

“It is testament to the hard work and perseverance that we have shown, particularly in the last two years, whilst coping with the lockdown closures.

“We are extremely grateful to all our customers for their continued loyalty and support and thank them for their votes.

“Also, it is a wonderful achievement to have six finalists, all in different categories, representing Bridgend.”

It is fantastic to see so many businesses from Bridgend town centre being nominated for the Best of Welsh Business Awards 2022.

This is a big boost for the town centre and just goes to prove how many amazing, independent businesses that the County Borough has to offer.

I wish all those nominated all the best of luck for the upcoming awards event.

Bridgend County Borough Councillor Stuart Baldwin, Cabinet Member for Communities

Awards are based on votes and evidence submitted by the nominee.  A judging panel will determine the winners and runners up based on number of votes and evidence submitted. Votes will be checked to ensure that every vote is legitimate.
